About Project

Mutawafiq is a new automotive marketplace designed to connect car buyers with verified dealers in the UAE. The app aims to streamline the car-buying journey, ensuring a smooth and transparent process while offering dealers a structured platform to manage their listings efficiently. My role was to design a user-centric experience from the ground up, focusing on usability, efficiency, and trust-building—key elements for an MVP that solves real user pain points.

Challenge

The client aimed to transform the UAE’s fragmented online car marketplace by creating a reliable, dealer-focused platform from the ground up. The challenge was to design an intuitive, mobile-first experience that would allow buyers to easily discover and reserve vehicles, while enabling car dealers to confidently manage and showcase their listings. The goal was to simplify the decision-making process, enhance transparency, and deliver a product that stands out in a competitive digital landscape.

Solution

To solve this challenge, I designed a role-based mobile experience tailored to both car buyers and verified dealers in the UAE. The solution focused on clarity, trust, and usability. Key features included a budget-based car discovery system, verified dealer listings, live auctions, and an intuitive dealer dashboard to manage inventory and track listing performance. By simplifying the user journey and aligning business needs with real customer pain points, the product delivered a streamlined, trusted marketplace experience for all stakeholders.

Process

For the Mutawafiq project, I followed a complete design thinking approach to craft a car marketplace app tailored for both dealers and buyers. I began by empathizing with users through stakeholder discussions and market research to understand their unique challenges. Dealers needed better listing control, while buyers sought easier discovery. From there, I defined clear goals and mapped distinct user journeys. I ideated role-specific features like "My Listings" for dealers and “Shop by Budget” for buyers. After prototyping in Figma, I tested key flows with users and refined the UI to deliver a seamless, goal-driven experience.

User Flow

I crafted a user-centric key flow that simplifies car discovery and booking for users while giving dealers intuitive control over listings. I mapped out key user actions from browsing cars by budget or category, to viewing details, and completing bookings. I designed seamless transitions between exploration and decision-making, minimizing cognitive load. For dealers, I focused on precise listing management and performance insights. Every user flow was tested and refined to ensure a frictionless, trust-building experience across the app.

Result

The final product delivered a highly intuitive, role-specific mobile experience that empowered car dealers to manage listings efficiently and enabled buyers to explore, filter, and purchase vehicles with ease. Key features like "Shop by Budget" and "Live Auctions" improved discoverability, while dealer-centric insights (like Average Time on Market) added real business value. The design helped align user needs with business goals, laying the foundation for a scalable platform. The client was thrilled with the outcome, and the prototype accelerated their development planning.
