As part of Hitachi’s digital transformation efforts for Etihad Rail, the UAE’s national railway network, I was brought on to evaluate and enhance the user experience of the mobile and web booking apps developed for the ERM commercial team. The primary goal was to ensure that future passengers would experience a seamless, intuitive, and trustworthy interface when booking their journeys across the UAE.
Hitachi is developing new mobile booking apps as part of the launch of the UAE’s national railway network. Since these are MVP apps being built from the ground up, it's essential to ensure that the experience is intuitive, user-friendly, and ready to meet the expectations of first-time users from day one. The challenge was to evaluate the initial design and functionality before launch, identifying any potential usability risks and ensuring the app delivers clarity, trust, and ease of use for a diverse user base.
I was responsible for conducting a thorough UX/UI audit of the booking apps for the ERM commercial team. This helped uncover usability issues early, ensuring the design was aligned with user needs and business goals. Following the audit, I created a usability testing strategy and action plan to validate key interactions and user flows. This structured approach helps ensure that the apps are not only visually polished but genuinely user-centered and ready for a successful public release.
My process began with a detailed UX/UI audit to evaluate the app’s current experience, uncover usability issues, and highlight areas for improvement. Using these insights, I created clear, actionable recommendations aligned with both user needs and business goals. Building on that, I developed a usability testing strategy to validate proposed improvements with real users, ensuring the final experience is intuitive, reliable, and ready for launch.
